There has been a significant volume of shipbuilding business reported in the week according to Clarkson Hellas.

Dry Bulk Carriers
The dry bulk fleet has seen a number of new additions this week. It was reported that SWS signed an additional order with Clients of Thenamaris for 1+1 180,000 DWT Capesize vessels, with the firm vessel lined up for delivery in 2015.

Clients of Nordic Bulk Carriers placed an order for two firm 75,000 DWT Ice Class 1A bulk carriers at Oshima for delivery in 2015. Although pricing was not officially revealed, it is believed the contracts will be priced just over USD 30 Mill and include options for additional sister vessels.

Oshima Shipbuilding are additionally reported to have signed a single 38,000 DWT bulk carrier for Clients of Ultrabulk with delivery in 2014. It is understood that this is an option from a previous contract which was declared mid‐2012 although has only come to light this week.

Clients of Hengli Petrochemical Company placed an order for 5 firm 15,000 DWT bulkers with Jiangsu Haitong Offshore Engineering with delivery from August 2013. No pricing was revealed.

Tankship Newbuildings
There has significant reported activity in the tanker newbuilding market this week. The Chinese Owners China Merchants Transportation have placed orders for VLCCs at both Dalian Shipbuilding and SWS. Dalian received an order for 3 firm plus 2 option 319,000 DWT VLCCs with delivery from late 2014 and a price circa USD 85 Mill. SWS received a similar order for 3 firm plus 2 option 318,000 DWT tankers again with delivery from 2014 and a price tag around USD 85 Mill.

Clients of Frontline 2012 are understood to have taken up options for two 115,000 DWT Aframax tankers at GSI, although the Vessels will be built at the Guangzhou Longxue facility that GSI now manage. The Vessels will deliver in the final quarter of 2014 and are reportedly priced at USD 42.5 Mill.

Clients of Scorpio Tankers are understood to have placed an order for four firm 52,000 DWT product tankers at SPP with delivery from mid‐2014. Additionally, the same Owners have also placed an order for 4 firm plus 4 option 37,000 DWT Ice Class 1A chemical/product tankers with Hyundai Mipo. Delivery is planned from mid‐2014 with a price tag understood to be circa USD 30 Mill.

HMD received an additional order from Clients of Dong‐A Tanker Co for two firm 50,000 DWT MR tankers for delivery in early 2015, with the possibility of options also being included in the deal.

Container Ships
In the container market, Clients of Technomar Shipping placed a 2+2 order for 6,900 TEU vessels at Hanjin Subic with delivery of the firm vessels planned from Q1 2015.

Other Specialized Ships
Away from the conventional sectors STX Dalian received an order for a single 50,000 DWT Transport/Heavy Lift ship from Clients of STX Pan Ocean, although understood to have been placed towards the end of 2012, has only been reported this week.

STX Dalian also contracted two firm 6,500 CEU Pure Car and Truck Carriers from Clients of Zenith Partners. These two declared options are the 3rd and 4th vessels in a series with delivery planned for 2015. Finally, Clients of Hainan Strait Shipping reportedly ordered two firm 8,700 GT Passenger/Car Ferries at Guangzhou Shipyard and due for delivery in 2014.
