Scanstrut unveils versatile new Scanpod models at Boot Düsseldorf Hall 11 Stand B51.
21 January 2013 - Leading electronics expert, Scanstrut Ltd, will be unveiling its latest Scanpod models at this year’s Boot Düsseldorf – Hall 11, Stand B51. The new models will provide versatile mounting options for electronic instruments on any rail, anywhere, onboard any boat.
Aimed at boat builders and marine enthusiasts, the Scanpod range has gained an enviable reputation for exceptional quality and ease of installation for chartplotters, radar displays, instruments and autopilot controls. The Scanpods provide watertight, reliable enclosures to protect expensive marine electronics and allow displays to be mounted for optimal viewing.
Current sailboat designs often have very open cockpits with few options for installing retro-fit instruments. The new Scanpod models allow for smaller instruments and chartplotters to be mounted anywhere, so long as there is a suitably sized rail.
The new Helm Pod Rail Mount provides the perfect solution for fitting a chartplotter to the upright or top of standard rails with the added benefit of fitting at the top of a curved rail. Its smart design allows for hidden cable routing into the rail itself. Once fitted, the pod can be rotated to change the viewing angle.
The Arm Mount extends the pod away from narrow or crowded rails for better viewing. A clever internal adjustment system means the pod is always at the right angle despite the shape of the rail. The pod can also be rotated to change the viewing angle. All cables are routed internally, and can be accessed easily via a removable cover.
Both the Helm Pod Rail Mount and Arm Mount have been designed to fit the Scanpod 1i single instrument pod and the Scanpod 7” Compact Helm Pod.
The new Scanpod models have been manufactured using a unique metal replacement plastic. The material allows for all the design creativity of moulded parts, but with the strength of stainless steel. This process also ensures that production costs are kept to a minimum allowing for reduced costs for the customer.
