Noreq to deliver Wind Turbine Platform Cranes (WTPC) for use on the Borkum Riffgrund 1 offshore wind farm.

The contract is with DONG Energy, a company Noreq has worked with before on other offshore wind farm installations. Two private investors, KIRKBI – the parent company of the LEGO Group – and William Demant Invest, are also involved as owners.

DONG Energy will build the Borkum Riffgrund 1 wind farm, (located approx. 55 km off the north-west coast of Germany) in the German sector of the North Sea. The farm will be one of Germany’s largest wind farms, with a capacity of 320 MW, and it will be able to supply CO2-free power equivalent to the annual consumption of nearly 330,000 German households.

Noreq has delivered more than 1000 WTPCs to different wind farms so far, and the version for Borkum Riffgrund has been modernized and given some new features as well as an updated design. The cranes are designed in their entirety by our Danish office.

"Being chosen for yet another of DONG Energy’s offshore wind farms is confirmation of our quality and our ability to stay in front, both commercially and technologically. Our WTPCs are chosen because of their operational reliability and their ability to withstand the harsh conditions they are used in. Clean energy is an important area for our crane department, and this order is an important recognition of our staff and products,” says Styrk Bekkenes, managing director of Noreq.
