Star Information Systems (SIS) has announced that Erik Sarmento Staubo has joined the company as head of oil & gas.

SIS is a world-class provider of tightly integrated software solutions and services that allow the safe and efficient operation of ships and rigs.

Of his appointment, Staubo stated: “Star Information Systems has some exceptional products that offer operators of ships, rigs and offshore supply vessels unique benefits in terms of safety, performance and cost savings. With the knowledge I have of the offshore and maritime market, combined with the reputation that SIS is building in this sector, I am looking forward to helping the company strengthen its position around the world in the coming years.”

Prior to joining SIS, Staubo spent two years as managing director of Advanced Marine Coatings AS, which offers marine coatings products to the international offshore and shipping community.

This appointment sees Staubo rejoin SIS, as he spent three years at the company, until January 2006 – as area manager for the organisation’s shipping activities.

Per Anders Koien, CEO at SIS, added: “Erik has a proven track record with substantial experience in business development. I am delighted that Erik has joined the company and he will provide our oil & gas business with further momentum as we seek to build on our success we have seen in this sector in 2012. Erik will be a key member of the team.”

2012 saw SIS open a new office in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to take advantage of this significant energy market. The company also signed an agreement with StormGeo that will see both companies work together to develop a range of innovative software solutions for the offshore and shipping industries. SIS will also be able to take advantage of StormGeo’s office locations around the world - particularly Houston and Dubai - to better serve the oil & gas markets.
Staubo has a Masters degree from Business Economics Handelshøyskolen, BI in Oslo, Norway. A native Norwegian speaker, Staubo is also fluent in both English and Portuguese. He will be based at the company’s office in Oslo.
