Survey: Energy Efficiency is the Future

Offshore Support Vessels Summit Releases the Survey Result on Energy Efficiency OSVs.

A new survey conducted by the Oil and Gas IQ asked more than 200 offshore maritime experts to present their views on energy efficiency OSVs. The survey shows that a significant 87.5 per cent of industry experts believe that energy efficient OSVs are the future of the offshore maritime industry, compared to just 12.5 per cent who think that energy consumption will remain similar or unchanged.

Clearly, the industry is rapidly changing and often the key to gaining further insight into what the future may bring is to speak to experts in the field, as well as other industry professionals. Indeed, around a third of those polled said they would be interested in attending an event exploring OSV projects and technology, with a further 41.7 per cent claiming to want more information on the topic. 50 per cent of the survey respondents claiming that operations were their main interest area of the OSV value chain. No doubt this ranked highly due to the number of respondents involved in marine and fleet development. Furthermore, some 16.7 per cent of experts have a spotlight on the contract and negotiations aspect of the sector, while an eighth claimed to be interested in design and engineering, despite the high proportion of engineers surveyed.
