Samuelsson to Head MAN B&W Diesel AG

The supervisory board of MAN B&W Diesel AG, a subsidiary of MAN AG, Munich, has appointed Håkan Samuelsson as its new chairman, effective January 1, 2005. In this position he will follow Dr. Rudolf Rupprecht who resigns as chairman as of December 31, 2004. Samuelsson will also act as “working chairman” as of February 2005 and take over for the time being the responsibilities for the MAN B&W Diesel Group’s overall policies and strategies. Currently chairman of the executive board of MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG, he will become chairman of the executive board of MAN AG as of January 1, 2005, succeeding Dr. Rudolf Rupprecht.

In addition, the chairman of the executive board, Dr. Hans-J. Schulte, will retire from the board of management at the end of January 2005, and move to the company’s supervisory board, effective February 1, 2005.

Dr. Schulte has worked for the MAN Group for 32 years. In 1984 he became a member of the first management board of the newly-founded MAN B&W Diesel AG, Augsburg, and MAN B&W Diesel A/S, Copenhagen, and has remained a member since then. He has been chairman of the executive board of MAN B&W Diesel AG, as well as a member of the board of MAN AG since 1998.

The supervisory board has also decided to appoint Dr. Stefan Spindler to the executive board for an additional five years as from June 2005. Further members of the executive board remain Fritz Pape and Dr. Sunn Pedersen. Dr. Stephan Timmermann was recently appointed to the executive board of MAN B&W Diesel AG for a period of five years, effective February 1, 2005. Dr. Timmermann is at present a managing director of Schwäbische Hüttenwerke GmbH of Aalen.
