FDGM, Inc., a U.S.-based, wholly owned subsidiary of Fincantieri of Italy, was selected to repower the United States Coast Guard’s 75-ft. WLR and WLIC class cutters with keel cooled Isotta Fraschini MotoriV1312T2 marine diesel engines. The V1312T2 will replace the current main propulsion plant for the Coast Guard cutters that work in conjunction with 130-ft. barges and primarily serve as aids to navigation.
Isotta Fraschini has supplied numerous power plants to the Italian Coast Guard and for other patrol vessels and cutters in other countries. This is the first contract for FDGM/Isotta Fraschini products for the United States Coast Guard. The Coast Guard contract’s Scope of Supply is for four engines for the first year with four option years to purchase an additional four engines each year.
